Diary 03/09/26

Hallo!

A big thing happened today! Instead of playing a video game, I made the active choice to work on my capstone project. This is a big deal to me, not only because I have a problem with discipline, but because I have been putting off doing work on this project for a long time, because I have either been too tired, had other things to do, or just didn't want to.

This is showing me that for one thing, I have gained some energy back. This is to be expected because I've slept for the last 3 days for over 10 hours per day. But it also shows me that I'm getting better at forcing myself to do something even if I don't want to.

I was reading this book called Atomic Habits, that discussed being 1% better every day. It's not a considerable change, and no one's gonna stare and go "wow!" But it's much more effective and long lasting than just changing over night, because that's not realistic or sustainable. Today, doing an hour of my project instead of playing my video game was my 1%. And the best part? I can play my video game now!

Please try to be 1% better today. That can look like finishing your homework or going to bed before 12. Either way, just that 1% is enough. Do not put pressure on yourself to be some superhuman who can suddenly have wonderful habits easily. It's not gonna work. And you're gonna get burnt out. Just take it one step at a time. Trust me. It's worth it.

Okay! Thank you! See you tomorrow!

Love, Xyla
