Diary 03/12/26

Hi!

Today was a bit rough. I got some disappointing news and I am always stressed enough as it is. It's hard when you feel like things are out of your control. As a high school senior, I'm feeling that especially, and there are times where I will try to control other things in my life, but sometimes it can turn unhealthy. Here are some ways that I've found that help me stay more mentally well and stable

  1. eat, drink, sleep: When you're in a stressful situation, you need to replenish your body. Personally, when things got hard for me today, I ate when I was hungry. Don't force yourself to eat or force yourself not to eat. Just replenish your body as it tells you to.

  2. Exercise: I suck at this one, but it helps to get out of bed and just do ten jumping jacks. My mom always tries to get me to do more physical activity because we both know it'll improve my mental health. And it does. Thanks mom, sorry I don't always listen to you.

  3. Be aware of what you can control: I can control my own actions, that's really it. But that has so many possibilities. I can control whether I lie in bed and cry or stand up and eat a bunch of chips. I can choose to sit alone or call and text my best friend (which I did, hi Elizabeth). It's my decision, and that alone gives me so much power.

  4. Time limit: It can seem pressuring in the moment to force yourself to get back up, but let's say you've had a really hard day. Okay! Get some ice cream, a comfort show, and your plushies and watch six episodes. But just know that when that last episode is done, you gotta get back up.

Today, I wanted to wallow, and I did. For around 4 hours I was just kinda lying in my bed feeling sorry for myself. But I spent some time with my dad, got out of bed, ate some food, drank some water, and now I'm here, doing work, because I want to. I want to get back up and out of this funk I am in. You get to define how long you're gonna lay down for. Choose the minimum amount of time possible, take the time you need, but the only way forward is through, so get back up and move on. It's the only way to make things better.

Okay! Byeeeee!

Love, Xyla
